Invertebrate Flake Soil Blend

Our Invertebrate Flake Soil Blend can be used as a base for raising the highest level invertebrates and as a bedding in your favorite bioactive terrarium/vivarium.

We recommend using the Invertebrate Flake Soil Blend in your bioactive containers or springtail cultures as a starting media as it provides a good source of food, moisture retention and structure that springtails thrive on.

With roughly 50% flake soil as the predominant ingredient, it also makes an amazing bedding material for your beetles that don't require 100% flake soil. The added worm castings ensure that if you're adding live plants, there is plenty of nutrition ready to go.

This soil blend works amazing and we use it exclusively for breeding and keeping the following springtail species:

1. Red Springtails (Lobella)
2. Florida Orange Springtails (Neanura growae)
3. Orange Springtails (Yuukianura aphoruroides)
4. Giant Silver Bullet Springtails (Pogonognathellus dubius)
5. Globular Cave Springtails (Arrhopalites caecus)
6. Quicksilver Springtails (Tomocerus vulgaris)
7. Woolly Mammoth Springtails (Orchisella villosa)

Process: All our Invertebrate Flake Soil Blend gets heated above 190 degrees for 2 hours to ensure sterilization of unwanted soft-bodied stragglers.

Storage: We store our Invertebrate Flake Soil Blend substrate frozen and recommend storing it in a freezer to avoid unwanted soil organisms from materializing in the soil.

Ingredients:  50% Organic hardwood flake soil, 30% worm castings (for improved plant growth), 10% New Zealand sphagnum moss and 10% small charcoal pieces
