The high-quality Vermicompost that we carry goes through a rigorous and consistent process that Country Roots Ltd has been spending years perfecting. With an education in Geology and a passion for Natural Farming, Country Roots Ltd has truly perfected their Vermicompost.

The Process:

The process starts with Red Wiggler (Eisenia fetida) worms spending months consuming a specially crafted starter bedding which is a compost with blended alpaca compost, leaf/wood mulch, rice hulls, oats, roasted barley, rock dust, biochar, alfalfa and volcanic minerals.

The worm beds are fed using mineral amendments along with in-house alpaca compost and dynamic greens and watered with Country Roots Ltd natural inputs. Once the time-honored process is completed, the castings are screened leaving a fluffy, microbe rich, mineral rich and clean vermicompost.

Benefits of Vermicompost

1. Provides a well balance of bio-available nutrients to your plants when top dressed or foliar fed through an Aerated Compost Tea (ACT) or Compost Extract.

2. Improves soil structure by improving soil aeration, increase water retention and helps to stabilize or anchor nutrients that would otherwise flow away from the rhizosphere.

3. Promotes and provides a home for the beneficial microbes which will help to enhance plant growth through the production of plant growth-regulating hormones (Natural PGRs) and enzymes.

4. Contains a consortia of beneficial soil organisms which will lend themselves to healthier plants, faster nutrient cycling, a higher level of sustainability and better yields.

Directions for Use

Application Rate:

Top Dress: Apply a 1-2 inch layer every 3-4 weeks on top of containers or beds throughout veg and flower.

Aerated Compost Tea: 1/4 to 1/2 cup of castings per gallon of non chlorinated water. Add castings directly to water or put in a sock/strainer bag and fully submerge. Aerate/bubble the mixture for 24 hours and apply as a root drench or foliar.

Compost Extract: 1/4 to 1/2 cup of vermicompost per gallon of non chlorinated water. Add castings to a sock/strainer bag and fully submerge it. Working quickly, vigorously rub the bag between your hands creating a dark brown rich watery liquid. After 5 minutes, immediately transfer to watering can or sprayer and apply it as fast and even as possible. Make sure to complete the entire process within 15-20 minutes to ensure aerobic microorganisms don't get adversely effected.

Storage

We store our vermicompost with a slight crack in the bag or in an open air bucket with a loose lid or even some straw mulch to keep it from drying out.
